Jackpots Page: Track Live Lottery Jackpots and History Charts

March 28, 2026  ·  3 min read  ·  Tool Guides

The Jackpot Cards

The Jackpots page shows one card per active lotto game, displaying the current advertised jackpot amount alongside the most recent draw date and the next scheduled draw date. Cards are sorted largest to smallest so the biggest prize is always at the top. The game icon and color match the sidebar for easy recognition at a glance.

Where the Data Comes From

Jackpot amounts come from the CalLottery API, which publishes the advertised jackpot for the next upcoming draw. Data updates automatically each morning after lottery results are processed — typically before 8 AM Pacific. Because Powerball and Mega Millions are multi-state games, the jackpot shown matches the national advertised figure sourced through California's API.

Games from other states (New York, Texas, Florida) don't currently publish jackpot amounts through their public APIs, so only California-affiliated games appear on this page.

Expanding the History Chart

Tap or click any card to expand it and reveal the jackpot history for that game. The area chart plots every recorded jackpot amount over time, from left (oldest) to right (most recent). You can see the growth cycles — the steady climb between winners — and the sharp resets when a jackpot is won and returns to its minimum starting amount. Hover over any point to see the exact date and jackpot amount for that draw.

The Stats Panel

Above the chart, four stat boxes summarize the game's jackpot history:

Next Draw Date

Each card shows the next scheduled draw date, calculated from the game's fixed draw schedule. Powerball draws Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Mega Millions draws Tuesday and Friday. SuperLotto Plus draws Wednesday and Saturday. Fantasy 5 draws nightly. These dates update automatically without a new API fetch — they're computed from the most recent draw date and the game's draw-day schedule.

Planning Around a Big Jackpot

When a jackpot climbs to an unusually large amount, the Jackpots page is the fastest way to compare all games at once. Once you've spotted a jackpot worth playing, head to the Tax Calculator to model your actual take-home after federal and state taxes — for both lump sum and annuity options. Understanding the after-tax figure often changes which jackpot looks most attractive. You can also read our guide to lottery odds to put each jackpot's prize size in perspective against the odds of winning it.
