Michigan's Draw Game Lineup
The Michigan Lottery offers six core draw games ranging from twice-daily digit games to multi-state mega-jackpots. Michigan stands out for its early evening draw time of 7:29 PM ET across most games, its iLottery platform for online ticket sales, and a flat 4.25% state tax on winnings. All lottery profits go directly to the School Aid Fund supporting K-12 education.
Daily 3
Daily 3 is Michigan's 3-digit game drawn twice every day — midday at 12:59 PM ET and evening at 7:29 PM ET. Pick 3 digits from 0-9 (digits can repeat). Play types include:
- Straight: Match all 3 digits in exact order — pays $500 on a $1 bet (1 in 1,000 odds)
- Box: Match all 3 digits in any order — payout varies by combination type
- Straight/Box: Combines both play types on a single ticket
- 1-Off: Each digit can be one away from the drawn digit
With 730+ draws per year, Daily 3 generates the most data of any Michigan game, making it ideal for frequency and pattern analysis.
Daily 4
Daily 4 follows the same structure as Daily 3 but with 4 digits. Draws happen twice daily at 12:59 PM ET and 7:29 PM ET. Straight bets pay $5,000 on a $1 wager with odds of 1 in 10,000. Box and straight/box play types offer better odds at lower payouts. The 1-Off option is also available.
Fantasy 5
Fantasy 5 is Michigan's own ball-draw game — pick 5 numbers from 1-39, drawn daily at 7:29 PM ET. The rolling jackpot starts at $100,000 and grows until won. Odds of matching all 5: 1 in 575,757. Fantasy 5 also features a Double Play add-on for an extra $1, giving you a second chance to win with an additional draw using the same numbers.
- Match 5: Jackpot (rolling, starts at $100K)
- Match 4: $500
- Match 3: $10
- Match 2: Free ticket
Fantasy 5 uses the same 5/39 format as Ohio's Rolling Cash 5, California's Fantasy 5, and New York's Take 5, making cross-state frequency comparisons straightforward.
Classic Lotto 47
Classic Lotto 47 is Michigan's flagship in-state jackpot game. Pick 6 numbers from 1-47, drawn Wednesday and Saturday at 7:29 PM ET. Jackpots start at $1 million and grow until won. The odds of matching all 6 are 1 in 10,737,573 — substantially better than Powerball or Mega Millions.
- Match 6: Jackpot
- Match 5: $2,500
- Match 4: $100
- Match 3: $5
Lotto 47 also offers a Double Play add-on for $1 more per play, giving you a second set of numbers drawn right after the main draw. Double Play has its own prize tiers with a top prize of $200,000.
Powerball & Mega Millions
Michigan participates in both national multi-state games. Powerball drawings are Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday; Mega Millions are Tuesday and Friday. At 4.25% state tax, Michigan is moderately tax-friendly compared to states like New York (10.9%) but not as favorable as tax-free states like Texas and Florida.
iLottery — Buy Tickets Online
Michigan was one of the first states to launch an online lottery platform (iLottery) in 2014. Select draw games and instant-win games can be purchased online or through the Michigan Lottery mobile app. This means you can play Fantasy 5, Lotto 47, Powerball, and Mega Millions without visiting a retailer.
Which Michigan Game Should You Play?
For frequent action and the most data to analyze, Daily 3 delivers 730+ draws per year. For daily ball-draw excitement at reasonable odds, Fantasy 5 (especially with Double Play) is the sweet spot. For in-state jackpots with far better odds than multi-state games, Classic Lotto 47 is a strong choice. And for the biggest prizes available, Powerball and Mega Millions round out the menu.
