Texas Lottery: Everything's Bigger

The Texas Lottery is one of the largest in the nation, offering seven draw games that range from daily digit games with four draws per day to massive multi-state jackpot games. Whether you prefer the fast action of Pick 3 or the big-prize appeal of Lotto Texas, there's a game for every play style.

Pick 3

Texas Pick 3 is a 3-digit game drawn four times daily — morning, day, evening, and night. Pick 3 digits from 0-9 (digits can repeat) and choose your play type:

With four draws per day, Pick 3 gives players more opportunities than nearly any other lottery game in the country. It's equivalent to California's Daily 3 and New York's Numbers game.

Daily 4

Daily 4 is the 4-digit version of Pick 3, also drawn four times daily. Pick 4 digits from 0-9 and choose straight or box play. Exact order bets pay $5,000 on a $1 wager with odds of 1 in 10,000. The four daily draws make this a high-frequency game perfect for players who enjoy daily digit analysis.

Cash Five

Cash Five is Texas's own ball-draw game — pick 5 numbers from 1-35. It's drawn nightly with a top prize of $25,000 for matching all 5. The smaller number pool (1-35 vs 1-39 in California/New York) gives slightly better odds at 1 in 324,632. The fixed-prize structure means no pari-mutuel surprises.

Texas Two Step

Texas Two Step is a unique game found only in Texas. Pick 4 numbers from 1-35 plus 1 Bonus Ball from 1-35. Drawings are Monday and Thursday nights. Jackpots start at $200,000 and grow until won. The odds of hitting the jackpot are 1 in 1,832,600 — some of the best jackpot odds of any state lottery game in the country.

Lotto Texas

Lotto Texas is the state's flagship jackpot game. Pick 6 numbers from 1-54. Drawings are Wednesday and Saturday nights. Jackpots start at $5 million and grow with each rollover. The odds of matching all 6 are 1 in 25,827,165. An Extra! option adds more prize tiers for an additional $1.

Powerball & Mega Millions

Texas participates in both national multi-state games. One key advantage: Texas has no state income tax, meaning lottery winnings are only subject to federal taxes. This makes Texas one of the best states to win a major jackpot.

Which Texas Lottery Game Should You Play?

For frequent action, Pick 3 and Daily 4 deliver four draws per day. For the best jackpot odds of any state game, Texas Two Step is hard to beat. Cash Five offers a nice middle ground with nightly draws and fixed prizes. For the biggest jackpots, Lotto Texas, Powerball, and Mega Millions are your options.
